Woman makes a dress out of Unsolicited Dick Pics.

WHAT TO DO WHEN SOMEONE SENDS YOU AN UNSOLICITED DICK PIC? THIS MUSICIAN CREATED A DRESS THAT ILLUSTRATES ALL THE MEN WHO’VE SENT HER UNWANTED SEXUAL EMAILS AND TEXTS OVER THE YEARS

NY, NY

Many women have, unfortunately, received emails and text messages from men that they are surprised to find contain explicit photographs of male genitalia.

“The first time it ever happened I was stunned,” says Liah Alonso, singer and songwriter in downtown Manhattan. “Over the years, I can’t tell you how many photos of random penises I’ve received,” she explained. But when someone sent her most recent unexpected schlong photo, also known as an “unsolicited dick pic” or (UDP), she decided enough was enough; she was finally going to do something about it.

But what can you do when someone sends you a photo of their junk? Reporting them to the social media platforms results in no consequence to the sender. “Some people delete them,” said Liah. “Others keep them all together in one place for when they need a good laugh,” she added. Liah took another path. She assembled some of the dozens of images she’s received over the years to create a tapestry of cocks; a dress of memories of all the times a man tried to force her to look at his penis.

“They obviously wanted the world to see their privates,” she said. The dress is made of 20 UDPs of every color and style; some large, some small, some uncircumcised, some erect. “The dress took me 3 days to make and took a lot of trial and error and awkward trips to the print shop,” Liah said. “Most of the pics were sent to me from strangers through direct messages on instagram.” When I wear the dress I feel powerful instead of someone who a stranger tried to take power from,” Liah said.

The dress is in coordination with Liah’s new single aptly called, “Unsolicited dick pic”, which she hopes will help others to find courage and strength when confronted with receiving an unwanted snapshot of a fellow’s member. The song drops on major retailers on iTunes, Amazon Music, and Spotify for Women’s day March 8th, but fans can download the song directly on www.unsolicitedickpic.com or www.liahalonso.com

See the unsolicited dick pic dress in this PSA video about the cause where Liah says, “One in three women will receive a USP, unsolicited dick pic in her lifetime,” and goes on to reveal Liah in the dress of dick pics. On her website, www.unsoliciteddickpic.org, she invites viewers to share their own stories and creativity.

What’s the harm in a weiner photo? “Sending a photo of your genitals amounts to both harassment and disempowerment of the women who receive these unwanted images,” says art-therapist Katie Van Doren MA, ATR.

“This stylized sexual attack can leave long-lasting emotional scars, such as self-esteem issues and trigger past traumas,” she adds. “Society needs to take a hard look at this pervasive and harmful trend and work to eradicate it.”

One might assume that putting a dress like this out there would instigate more men to follow suit and send in their own wares. While Liah would prefer to not receive more photos, she now found a purpose for them: “This was a rough draft dress,” she explains. “I was going to make another one anyway.”
